Hôtel du Grand Lac Excelsior

The hotel is a very stately. It is walkable to the Territet train station and Castle Chillon. It is directly on Lake Geneva promenade. The balcony and view of the mountains and lake was magnificent. Public transportation to Montreux and surrounding area via bus is convenient as well. Bath, oom shower needs a little tile attention The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff contacted us and mailed us a piece of clothing left behind. The rooms are spacious and nice. However, the entire hotel experienced a hot water failure on our first day. Our refrigerator failed. We were given a small credit for these inconveniences at check out. The hotel dinner was good but know that it closes at 8:30 p.m. The hotel breakfast was standard self-serve buffet. Overall, I would recommend staying here.

Amazing place , the location is absolutely stunning with direct access to the legendary Montreux lake. The junior suite was amazing and spacious with a coffee machine, two bathrooms and super comfy beds. Everything there is so calming and relaxing. The staff, what can I say , they are the 👌 best. Clara , at the reception, was adorable, she went out of her way to help us with a minor issue we had and made sure everything was great. All that while being extremely nice and always smiling and welcoming. Thanks Clara , and everyone there really. This is an outstanding hotel with outstanding staff. 10/10 for me honestly.

A beautiful setting. Large and grand this hotel has been opulent in its time. There are a few things that could do with a bit of an upgrade, we had to change from our first room because a plug socket fell apart. But overall every question we raised was responded by helpful staff. Great to have use of the swimming pool. Very easy to walk for miles along the promenade. Easy access to bus stops.

Amazing view of the lake! The room was very spacious and very comfy beds. Bathroom was also very big, with a bathtub. The location was perfect for us, as it was quieter than some parts of Montreux but still very close to the centre and easy walk to the Chillon castle. Breakfast was very good too. We really enjoyed our stay!

My room was perfect. A beautiful balcony view of the Lake and, to my left, the apartment occupied by Freddie Mercury at the end of his life when he wrote a couple of his most emotional songs. The service was immediate and wonderul, the room lovely and large, the balcony and its view perfect. Only ONE issue. When they renovated the room they apparently re-leveled the bathroom floor so that it is one inch approximately above the rest of the room. I tried very hard to remember, but one early morning, I awakened and went to the bathroom and tripped on the lip of the bathroom floor and hit the tile hard and had a sore arm for two days. Someone needs to do something about that strange situation. Other than that, the place is absolutely perfect and wonderful and I have booked again for the Freddie birthday celebration week for next year.
